Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme (HTAS)

Hampshire County Council, in partnership with Southampton and Portsmouth City Councils provide support services to help Hampshire's most talented athletes reach world class podiums. Applications for HTAS grants are open between 1 September and 15 October 2010 and are available online: http://www.sporthampshireiow.co.uk/funding-and-support-htas. Please see below the selection criteria and note that age group rankings are no longer accepted after Under 20s level. The closing date for applications is 15 October 2010. A press release is attached.

Generic Criteria
Tier 2
A top 5 ranked national performer or a member of a national team*.
On a World Class Programme but NOT receiving funding.
Aged 11+

Tier 3
A top 10 ranked national performer or member of a national team*.
Aged 11+

Tier 4
A top 15 ranked national performer or member of a national squad.
Aged 11+

*The number and frequency of performances (especially international performances) will be taken into consideration when deciding award levels.

Support includes:

  • Grants up to £500
  • Free access to leisure centres
  • Fast-track physiotherapy care
  • Free bus pass
  • Information for schools on mentoring talented students

How to apply
The application form is available online.
Athletes need to follow these steps if they would like to apply:

1) Check that they are eligible using the information on the HTAS webapge
2) Download the application form
3) Fill the form in electronically
4) Print off the form and sign it.
5) Send the form to the address stated, along with 4 passport photos and evidence from their NGB.

Oxfordshire Sports Awards 2010 Nomination Launch!The Oxfordshire Sports Partnership will be launching the nomination process for the 2010 Oxfordshire Sports Awards on Monday 6th September. We need you to get behind the sporting stars in Oxfordshire who have excelled on the local, national or international stage over the past year. Nominate the coach who has helped you or your team achieve considerable successes over the last 12 months. Honour the unsung hero who may not make the headlines, but without whom sports clubs or organisations could not survive. Closing date for entries is Thursday 30th September. TYPHOO SPORTS FOR ALLAre you a coach committed to providing equal opportunities in sports coaching? Typhoo Sports for All Disability Inclusion Course will be held on Sat, 25th Sept in Aylesbury. The course will give you the skills and inspiration to include disabled people in your coaching sessions. This is a 6-hour theory and practical based course delivered in a classroom and sports hall.
